Happy 2017! I hope this message finds everyone reengaged and energized in their organizations and ready for another exciting year of technology development, “cloud” exploration, and fulfilling our missions to improve the health of our patients. With that said, we have so many uncertainties ahead of us in the healthcare space.
- What will happen with ACA and how will reimbursement be impacted?
- What can we do to continue to drive down costs for supplies and services?
- When is the right time to move our IT solutions to the cloud?
- Where do we shift resources to be the most effective and how can we streamline our processes?
Who has the crystal ball to help us see the future?
I certainly do not claim to have the answers to all of these questions, but I can point you in the direction of great resources… our members and business partners. Your engagement with HIUG can take place on many fronts that include: monthly community calls, discussion forums, access to file libraries and our annual Interact Conference. We are currently offering significant discounts for Interact 2017 with our “early bird” registration fee and registration fee compensation for approved sessions. If you, or someone from your organization, has a great story to share about your technology deployment, innovative use of the tools, implementation stories or redesigned business process strategies, we want to hear from you. Please think about submitting your abstract on-line to be considered for our Interact Conference offerings. The deadline is February 10, 2017, so don’t wait too long to throw your presentation idea into the ring. Submit a session here.
Lastly, I want to make everyone aware of a new Community coming your way soon. We are expanding the footprint of our Executive Forum group that meets annually at the Interact event. We will now have a space inside the HIUG site for this group to collaborate, as well as plans in the works to pull this group together for virtual meetings on a more regular cadence throughout the year. Warren Harber, Vice President of Finance for National Financial Systems, for Kaiser Pemanente Health Plan and Hospitals is our executive advisor to HIUG and will be leading this journey to a more engaged executive presence. If you have any questions about HIUG or Interact, I welcome your inquiries and encourage you to reach out to our board members. I leave you with this last reminder. Please consider sharing your organizations great work and become a presenter at Interact 2017 and don’t forget to take advantage of significant savings by registering for conference during the early bird registration period.
