For most of us, it has been a wild and woolly winter. Some of us have been having the snowiest winter in recorded history. I think that everyone is ready for warmer weather and the HIUG Board members have set their sights on the 2010 conference with thoughts of sunny Orlando dancing in our heads. If you haven’t already, mark your calendars now for Interact 2010, which will take place on June, 27th to June, 30th, in Orlando, Florida. For more information, please check out our website. Plans are well under way for Interact 2010. Watch for additional communications, as we prepare to open registration, which should happen later this month. There will be plenty of sessions led by your peers who are willing to share their real life implementation and business experiences with you. These presentations will include regular case studies about a wide range of subjects and challenge your thinking, while providing tools that can be used in your day to day business. . As the HIUG Board prepares for this conference; we are also aware of the continued trend of lower travel budgets. For that reason our goal continues to be a conference filled with networking opportunities and sessions that will be beneficial to all attendees. We want to be certain that, if you can only travel to one conference, this is the one that you choose. Also, you can now get your HIUG and Interact 2010 updates from Facebook and LinkedIn! HIUG officially joined Facebook and LinkedIn so that you can use these popular social networking tools to help keep you up to date with the latest HIUG news and events. This is just another example of how the HIUG Board continues to support HIUG members. So, if you haven’t already become an HIUG Facebook Fan, or, if you haven’t connected to our LinkedIn group page, now is the time. We encourage you to tell all your HIUG friends, your co-workers, and anyone else that is in the healthcare industry about this new and exciting way to stay connected. I would like to also take this opportunity to recognize some of our HIUG On-Line vendor supporters. CedarCrestone, Perceptive Software, HighJump and Rimini Street not only support the annual conference, but, also support our website. To show our appreciation, I encourage you to review the services and solutions that they have to offer. To all the HIUG members, thank you for your continued participation and as always let us know how we’re doing and what things we can do better by contacting our support team at support@hiug.org. The SCM pillar has had another busy and exciting quarter. The December call had fair attendance given its proximity to the holidays and we discussed the hot topic - Regularly Scheduled Maintenance...What are you doing to keep your transactional data cleaned up?
January kicked off the new year with some excitement generated around PeopleSoft Mobile Inventory Functionality. Oracle presented on their development efforts, demonstrated a rough prototype, and solicited feedback from the customers on what they would like to see in the product. Keep the feedback coming!
We also had a special interest call at the end of January that was well attended (over 50 customers), on the topic of EPIC surgical system integration with PeopleSoft SCM. Theresa Kaser and Chris Hatcher from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center shared their experience and some code too. They have also agreed to presenting a session on this topic at our conference in June...THANKS.
The February pillar call provided the participants with some information on getting started with GS1 efforts on the GLN (Global Location Number). John Roberts from GS1 USHealthcare Division presented, and gave the participants a demo of the GS1 Registry. The Ohio State University Medical Center was on the call and indicated they are transacting, and we are interested to hear if others have made progress as well.
I am working on the Hot Topic of "Archiving" for our March call and hope to have an Oracle presenter for that discussion. We are also working hard to solidify the presentations for the June conference and look forward to some great discussions at that event as well. If you have any questions or need assistance with anything for the SCM pillar, please contact Deb Hetrick at hetricd@ohiohealth.com. Financials Pillar Update
The Financials Pillar has had great participation in the monthly calls, scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month at 2pm EST. Recent topics have included "Changes to the 1099 process" and "PeopleSoft 9.1 - New Features and Functionality," both presented by Oracle. Documents related to these calls can be found online at www.hiug.org. Additional topics planned are: April 21, 2010 2pm - Cameron McClurg of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre will present on using PeopleSoft’s AR/Grants/Billing/Projects to manage Clinical Trials. May 19, 2010 2pm - Oracle will give a presentation on using Oracle Support and the process of filing cases or requests for information with Oracle. Please join us on these monthly calls and participate in the sharing of information and ideas. As always, the forum is a great resource to answer any questions. If you have any questions or need assistance with anything for the Financials Pillar, please contact Claire Suplee at Supleece@upmc.edu. Tools and Technology Pillar Update
On the Thursday 2/25 Tech Pillar Call, 21 attendees heard about "Oracle Enterprise Manager - Application Management and Testing Solutions", Oracle's capability in the testing tools space. Specifically, Oracle covered their capabilities in the following areas: * Oracle Application Testing Suite (load & performance testing) * Oracle Real Application Testing (functional application testing) The presentation was well received, and provided a good overview of their capabilities around testing tools. We've received 6 customer presentation submissions and 3 Oracle submissions. We are in the process of reviewing to select those that will be on the conference agenda. Please work with your Tools and Technology Pillar Chair, Kevin Barnes BarnesKe@MLHS.ORG to provide him with your feedback.
CRM Pillar Update
If you are an organization that has recently installed Siebel applications and management wants to measure user adoption or if they want to collect information about which employees are using the system and which views and microsite pages are accessed most often then you do not want to miss this webcast. At the end of the month we will set up a call with Oracle to review the Siebel Usage monitor. If you can't make the call, the webcast will be recorded and accessible via HIUG website. The CRM Usage Collection originates in the Content Publishing module but proves useful for any Siebel CRM implementation. The setup is straight forward and does not require any srf changes. Data output is threefold (CSV, XML or W3C) and the data can be further analyzed with any tool capable of reading the information in the output files. Please work with your CRM Pillar Chair, Donald Rice Jr. Don.Rice@bcbsnc.com to provide him with your feedback.

Vendors Add Value to Interact Experience
There is no better place to discover the best of breed healthcare services and software providers than at the Interact 2010 conference. Whether you are looking for implementation/upgrade services, supply chain systems, document management & reporting systems, or advice on establishing organizational best practices with your PeopleSoft/Oracle implementations, you will find the current industry leaders and experts in these areas and more at Interact 2010.
This year’s conference will offer attendees access to more vendor partners than ever before. Take the time to review the list of vendors participating in Interact 2010 and read their corporate profiles online to find out more about the products and services they provide to the healthcare sector. http://www.hiug.org/p/cm/ld/fid=75
Over 2/3 of the available booths have already been purchased and at the current rate we should be sold out by the end of April. Does your organization work with a vendor that you would like to see participate in the conference as a sponsor? Tell them about it, encourage them to attend, and point them to the website!
If your organization is considering system upgrade services, software solutions, or enhancements to your existing Oracle/PeopleSoft applications, be sure to include Interact 2010 and the conference trade show in your project plans. See you all in Orlando!
